NHKラジオ「中学生の基礎英語 レベル1」ってどんな番組？
ストーリーを楽しみながら、中学校で学ぶ文法や英語表現をしっかり身につけることをテーマにしたラジオ番組です。
あらすじ
ある日のこと。公園のベンチで日記を書いていたニコは、だれかに話しかけられました。
声の主はなんとネズミ！ ネズミは「ぼくはカール」と名乗ります。
英語で会話を続けるふたりでしたが、カールは話をさえぎって「行かなきゃ！」と走っていきます。
追ううちに、自分の見知らぬ森のなかに立っていることに気づいたニコ。
実は、その森は英語を話す不思議な世界「ファーウッド・フォレスト」だったのです。

Carl: Listen! Mayor Bigmouth's car is outside.
Nico: What?
Dierdre: Of course, it is. Mayor Bigmouth is our big customer.

Dierdre: Everyone, stand straight! Good afternoon, Mr. Mayor.
Mayor Bigmouth: Dierdre, my dear. How are you?

今週は「主語と目的語」について詳しく学びましたね。
文の中で「だれが」「何が」にあたる部分を「主語」、「～を」「～に」にあたる部分を「目的語」と呼びます。それぞれの役割をしっかり理解しましょう。

主語や目的語になれるのは、名詞や代名詞など、名詞の役割を持つ語句だけでしたね！
例文で確認
番組で紹介された例文で、主語と目的語の位置を確認してみましょう。
- My mother plays volleyball on Saturdays.
- 私の母は毎週土曜日にバレーボールをします。
この文では、my mother が主語、volleyball が動詞 plays の目的語、Saturdays が前置詞 on の目的語になっています。
- Lisa likes cooking. She often makes dinner for her family.
- リサは料理をするのが好きです。彼女はよく彼女の家族に夕食を作ります。
こちらの文では、Lisa と She が主語、cooking は likes の目的語、dinner は makes の目的語、her family は前置詞 for の目的語です。

Monday's key points
- When does he want it?
- 彼はいつそれが必要ですか？
When や Where などの疑問詞で質問する場合、疑問詞のあとは通常の疑問文の形が続きます。主語が3人称単数の場合は Does + 主語 + 動詞の原形 となります。

Tuesday's key points
- I like him.
- わたしは彼が好きです。
him は一般動詞や前置詞の目的語になる代名詞です。目的語になるときに形が変わる代名詞には、me, you, him, her, it があります。

- 私はこの俳優が好きです。あなたも彼女が好きですか？
Wednesday's key points
- Deirdre loves us.
- ディアドリさんはわたしたちが大好きです。
us は自分を含む複数の人を表し、目的語として使います。複数形の目的語になる代名詞には、us, you, them があります。
練習フレーズ
- I have two sisters. I love them.
- わたしには姉がふたりいます。わたしは彼女らが大好きです。
Thursday's key points
- Mayor Bigmouth's car is outside.
- ビッグマウス市長の車が外にあります。
人名などにアポストロフィー(')とsをつけると「～の」という所有の意味になります。あとに名詞を置かない場合は「～のもの」という意味で使えます。

アリサについての質問例
- What does she teach? (彼女は何を教えていますか？)
- Where does she teach? (彼女はどこで教えていますか？)
- Where is she from? (彼女はどこの出身ですか？)
- Does she teach English? (彼女は英語を教えていますか？)
相手の話したキーワード（music, teachなど）から、いろいろな質問が考えられますね！
