NHKラジオ「中学生の基礎英語 レベル1」ってどんな番組？
ストーリーを楽しみながら、中学校で学ぶ文法や英語表現をしっかり身につけることをテーマにしたラジオ番組です。
あらすじ
ある日のこと。公園のベンチで日記を書いていたニコは、だれかに話しかけられました。
声の主はなんとネズミ！ ネズミは「ぼくはカール」と名乗ります。
英語で会話を続けるふたりでしたが、カールは話をさえぎって「行かなきゃ！」と走っていきます。
追ううちに、自分の見知らぬ森のなかに立っていることに気づいたニコ。
実は、その森は英語を話す不思議な世界「ファーウッド・フォレスト」だったのです。

Sea turtle: Oh! That's mine. Thank you, young man.
Nico: I don't understand. It's just a clam.
Sea turtle: Just a clam? You're a strange child.
Carl: Nico, clams are money in Beluga Beach.
Nico: I see!
Carl: Come on. Let's explore the beach.
Nico: Okay.
Wednesday's story
Carl: We need clams.
Nico: Maybe we can find work.
Octopus: Did someone say "work"?
Nico: Oh, hello, Mr. Octopus.
Octopus: It's "Captain." Captain Pulpo.
Carl: Nice to meet you, Captain.
Pulpo: Can you tie ropes?
Nico: Yes!
Pulpo: Then come to my boat. I can pay clams.

Thursday's story
Carl: You're good at tying ropes.
Nico: My grandpa taught me. He was a fisherman.

Pulpo: Don't worry. You can stay at the inn tonight.

「what」も「whose」 も、あとに名詞を続ける場合と、単独で使う場合があります。
what, whose のあとに名詞を置くとき

Whose は「だれの～」という意味で、持ち主を尋ねるときに使います。whoseのあとに名詞を続ける形も、whoseを単独で使う形もあります。

Which は、複数の選択肢の中から「どれ」「どちら」を尋ねるときに使う疑問詞です。

How long は「どのくらいの長さ（時間・距離）」を尋ねる表現です。

Speak Out!
最後の「Speak out!」では、「相手の言ったことに質問する練習」をしました。会話を弾ませるには、相手の話に興味を持って質問を返すことが大切です。
